- USA 1946 CAMPAIGN - by Andrea Bigi
  release 1.4 - 17/11/1997

IMPORTANT - to play this scenario at all, it is imperative that you
are using the enhanced equipment roster for Pacific General. The roster
adds many new units not available in the "official" releases from SSI,
which this scenario uses. The roster is fully compatible with the
Pacific General main game, scenarios and campaign, so there's no
reason why not to use it!
The enhanced equipment roster can be found on the web at the Pacific
General Armory at:

INSTALLATION - after unzipping the file, copy or move the "xxx.scn"
files into the "save" directory of your Pacific General folder. To
play, choose the "Start a Scenario" option on the main screen. Next
choose the "Load Homemade Scenario" button from the bottom of the
screen and select the "xxx.scn" file. Now you are ready to play!

  SCENARIO NOTES -

Here you can find a short description of the scenarios in this
campaign.

  01) Pacific Ocean scenario - "Battle of Giants"

Axis has won the war and is now trying to conquer United States.
Impossible? Why not. First step of this Axis campaign is to gain the
absolute supremacy on the Pacific. Yes, one could not be able to
explain well the presence of the Germans in the Pacific (I know, it is
a little hard...), but probably nobody in this world can say exactly
what Hitler would have done in the case of victory in Europe.
This scenario is recommended for real lovers of naval warfare. It is a
bloody meeting engagement between the powerful navies of four nations:
18 battleships, 14 carriers on the field, and also a sky full of
superfighters and tactical bombers! Enjoy: the only goal is to
completely destroy the enemy.

  02) San Francisco

Okay, Axis is supposed to have won the pacific battle and it is now
ready for assaulting american west coast. But it won't be really easy:
the Allies (there is also a strong british garrison to defend the
northern part of the city) are well entrenched and have yet a very
good air force. Also their navy was not completely wiped out in the
pacific battle and it is in the docks of the Frisco bay waiting for
Axis guys.
One problem for the Axis player is the choice between landing the
embarked forces (they are very good, like Tigers II, Jagdtiger and
heavy artillery, but also, as you know, extremely slow in advance) or
trying to debark them closer to the city, but with the danger of deadly
Allies navy gunfire. To destroy the Allies battleships and therefore
to land his powerful embarked units, the Axis player will have to use
very, very carefully the superior power of Super Yamato. Anyway, the
major challenge is in the skies: for both players (but especially for
the Axis) losing the jet squads will mean a major defeat.

  03) Washington

Another one extremely hard for the Axis, anyway very different from
the original Panzer General scenario. The Japanese are supposed to be
committed yet in the West, to consolidate former objectives, so the
assault to the capital city is led by Germans and Italians. Most of
the german navy is still in the Pacific and therefore, to support
landing craft units, Hitler sent battleship Tirpitz, the Bismarck
nasty sister, and the new german carrier, Third Reich, built on the
Graf Zeppelin model (remember that we are in 1946: this is really a
"back to the future" campaign, and everything is possible!). The first
problem for the Axis player is that italian navy and armor is too weak
for the remaining US and british forces. Also, the British have landed
the east coast and they are threatening seriously the Axis backfield.
Last but not least, there are many objectives to hold and the US
defenses of Washington are simply titanic! Well guys, let me know if
you are able to capture the White House!

  04) Mideast

This one is much easier for the Axis. The Allies have lost their
remaining fleet in Washington and even the air force is not so good:
in other words, it is up to them a battle against overwhelming odds.
The problem for the Axis (here are the Axis at complete) is possibly
the high number of the objectives on the way.
